Today, I left my grandmother's burial to take a midterm. Earlier I e-mailed the professor to ask permission to take it later, and she flat out said "no." I left my grieving family, and traveled hours back to school. I went to class, only to discover that the prof decided to move the exam date. FML

What a ******* bitch. She should go die. Heartless demon.....

that really, really sux. FYL for sure.

What is with everyone here throwing around the word "****" ? And not even just for the teacher, whose motives you know nothing about, but for other posters who you've only read three sentences from. Good luck calling everyone a terrible word when they do something you find slightly inappropriate.

Your prof deserves to be fired...

Your professor is SUCH AN ASSHOLE. That's just one of the lowest things a teacher can do, I'm sooo sorry...FYL bigtime. :( I actually got a teacher fired for doing something like that once. In middle school, my grandfather died, and my mom went to the house he formerly shared with my grandma to grieve with her and sit shiva for a week (it's a Jew thing). So every day after school that week, I would have to travel the 45 minutes to Long Island and be with her and my grandma. My teachers all said "Sure, go ahead, don't worry about the homework, I'm so sorry about your grandfather." That is, except my french teacher, who had assigned us huge project over a 2 week period, and it was at the beginning of the second week that I had to ask for the extension. Her response was "NO, you already had all of last week to work on the project, why didn't you do it then? I want it in BY THIS FRIDAY." Like, how was I supposed to know my grandpa would die? So my mom complained to the house principal, and then the principal, and at the end of the year they fired that teacher. Yayy!! Some people just have no hearts, you know? :(

i'm with 59 - i feel terrible for you; that's really unfortunate, but if anyone has a situation like this in the future, it's worth taking to the next-up authority, like the dean of students or dean of that department. you could probably report this to them now too, but it probably won't result in much. sorry about your grandma :(
