Today, I'm in the process of adopting a child. When I called my mom to tell her the news, she just said, "Oh honey, don't adopt, it's the worst decision you'll ever make." I'm adopted. FML

Don't listen to her. Adopting is a great thing (I plan to adopt) and I'm sure you'll find it rewarding. Just don't EVER tell your kid shit like that.

What a shitty thing to say to someone's child. The fact that you're adopted made the comment so much worse. My younger sister was adopted and while we love her dearly, with her adoption came a shit ton of insecurity and abandonment issues. If something like that was said to her, she'd be ****** up emotionally. Your mom is a despicable person for even joking like that.

That's called you're not loved. My parents say they love me when they try to really change me. But they would never say to not do something I want to do. FYL and, when you get a chance, think of some good comebacks for your mom
