Today, I'm on vacation. I spent $4000 to surprise my boyfriend on a trip to Hawaii. We have been together over a year. Turns out, he hates the outdoors. He's mad at me for bringing him here and is upset at everything. He's in the room reading, I'm at the bar drinking $10 Mai Tai's. FML

Today, on the last day of our vacation with my boyfriend's family, I'm crying alone under a tree because he refuses to talk to me because I got mad he didn't want to do anything with me, but did those same things with his family. He went out of his way to do all the things I wanted to do, but without me. FML

Today, my son got back from his solo holiday in Hawaii. I asked him what he did. Apparently, he sat in his suite for 2 weeks, watching shit on his laptop. He spent thousands of pounds, flew thousands of miles to one of the nicest islands in the world, all to stay in his room. He could have done that here. FML

Today, I got back from a romantic vacation at a fancy hotel with my boyfriend of 6 months. After a steamy love session, I confessed that I was in love with him. Later, when I got out of the shower, all his stuff was gone and I was stuck with the entire week's hotel cost and no ride home. FML

how could someone hate hawaii? communication issues or not thats a shitload of time and money to spend on someone who is so unappreciative. even if he doesn't like the outdoors he should make an effort to not be such a whiny bitch and pout in the hotel room. tell him to grow a set and i'll pay to switch places... im in florida and its been raining for three days and i can't go outside (well it wouldn't be as enjoyable). while your at the bar buy some other guy a drink then bring him back to your room, i'm sure your boyfriend will want to go outside then :)

hating the outdoors does not make someone hate hawaii. someone might hate hiking and inclement weather and wild animals, or the inconveniences of camping...but who hates perfect beaches, tropical flowers, and a consistent seventy degrees? i know alot of people who aren't outdoorsy that love hawaii... sorry, just felt the need to defend the OP, there was no way to anticipate that ANYONE would hate hawaii...actually, i would only even think of that if they were the type who were into really rugged outdoors stuff...

First off, you deserve it for surprising him. Especially with something that big. This is exactly why I hate surprises. People surprise you with something you're NOT happy about and expect you to be grateful. Second, you kind of deserve it for not knowing that's not something he'd enjoy after A YEAR. I'm not saying what you did wasn't extremely nice. But that's the kind of thing you should know about your partner, and it's the kind of thing that you don't surprise people with.
