Today, I managed to accidentally drop an entire cake on my laptop's keyboard. There's so much frosting stuck under the keys, I have no idea how I'm going to clean it out. FML

pop the keys off then clean it and pop it back in

Best advice I can give, wipe it with an alcohol wipe and if you see some dry icing in there, take the sticky end of a sticky note to clean it out

Take a picture of the keyboard for reference. Then pop all the keys off (make sure it's turned off) blow out all you can with canned air, then use q-tips and electronics cleaner for the rest. Then pop keys back on. Did a similar and it's slow but it works and it's cheap.

No harm in soaking a computer in water provided you let it dry for a day or two afterwards, water only damages electronics if they're turned on while still wet. I regularly do it with my keyboard.

Shut down the laptop, take out the battery, and look up how to remove your keyboard (it's usually pretty simple but screws/placement may vary). Then just run it under some water until it's clean, wait for it to fully dry, and replace. You can soak other components in distilled water if they're icinged too; it won't hurt the computer as long as they're COMPLETELY DRY before you replace them and put the battery back/try to charge it/turn it on.

Keys on a keyboard are designed to pop off when the keyboard needs cleaning. Just pop the keys off and you'll be good. :)

a repair shop could fix this easily if you have one in your area. or if you are comfortable with taking it apart yourself you can remove the keyboard itself and run it under hot water. I'm being serious btw, the water will not hurt it, just make sure it drys overnight before you put it back in your laptop.

Bad idea. If there was some water that didn't dry out, it could kill the computer.
