I'm not sure how sound a lot of this advice is. My advice is - life can be a bitch sometimes, and we just have to suck it up. I hope he gets to know you and see's you're actually a lovely person (which of course is an assumption) and is perhaps nicer to you while you're working, too.

Sucks
One of my horrible customers turned out to be my fiance's aunt. In social situations she would try to tell me how to run my restaurant! I logically and respectfully explained why her suggestions would not work, so now I have peace - she won't even acknowledge that I'm in the room with her!! (Btw - she's a professional housewife - hasn't had a job in all her days!)
