#7... F**k you. I am a military girlfriend and that was just uncalled for. I cry my eyes out at nights, I sleep with the phone on my pillow... Dont say we cheat.. Also, I joined. So dont say I dont know what it is like to be away. I know both sided.

#8 and #13 nailed it. My fiance is a marine, and through being with him I've met a lot of military couples. Most of the girls are with their guys because they love to prance around saying "Look at me, look at me, my man is in the military!" and think that their man's struggle automatically makes them better than anyone else. I'm not with a marine, I'm with a man who happens to be a marine. I love the man, not the job. Do bankers' wives walk around going "Look, I date a banker, you can tell because it says so on my shirt!" No, because most people have more going on for them that they don't need to identify themselves through who they date. And #14, good for you that you can stay faithful to your man, but stop acting like you represent all military girlfriends. I'm faithful to my guy, but I know three girls just from my dorm that are cheating on guys over seas. One legit walks around with a camo hat that says "I love my soldier" but goes home with a soccer player every night and then brags about it. It's disgusting. So yes, a lot of military girlfriends cheat. Being with a military man does not make you a special class of person so don't feel the need to defend them. Just keep living your life and doing right by your guy.

#15 was right on. I am in the military (canadian, but I think our cultures are close enough for a comparable experience in this instance) and it is a real problem sorting out the girls that are attracted to the uniform from the ones attracted to the person. All my friends wear the same uniform and the girls that are just attracted to the uniform just turn into what we call "shack rats," screwing their way through the barracks. I have absolutely no respect for them, and avoid them like the plague. Decent girls, in my experience, are really hard to find, but do exist. As for the original post, the only thing more disgusting than a shack rat, in my opinion, is a Jody; someone who will actively pursue a soldier's girlfriend/fiancee/wife while he is on deployment; all Jodys must die. This Marine is having a tough enough time overseas without worrying about some asshole harassing his girlfriend. Keep in mind that this long distance relationship that she is having right now is temporary and she left you for a reason. Long distance relationships depend totally on the people involved. Maybe she felt you weren't close enough, or trustworthy enough, or worth the effort, I have no idea. Whatever the reason, the fact is she is no longer with you. Suck it up princess. And don't try anything to take her from him. Its just a really bad idea.
