I don't care about the slaughter of animals because utility calculus doesn't exist and I just do whatever horrible hedonistic thing I feel like, and a world without animal exploitation isn't a sustainable one and can't exist.

Well, I'm a vegetarian, and I hate people like that. Imagine not saying that you love veal, and going on a date or something, and you ordering veal. What would have happened then?

I eat meat all the time. Tons of it. Probably too much. BUT, I've never eaten veal... nor would I. I'm not in favor of animal torture, and to me, eating veal is supporting torture in its worst form. However, self-righteous vegetarians and vegans make me want to hit something. How is what I eat any of your concern. Point is, OP, you really are lucky that you found out before the first really awkward date.

I'm a vegan. I would NEVER tell someone what that idiot told you, but somehow people expect it of me because a few vegans ruin it for everyone. It goes the other way too. So many people act so suspicious and concerned about this lifestyle I've chosen, why I don't eat at the restaurants they do, if I'm getting adequate nutrition, blah blah blah. At least you got rid of him early. Although I do think it's a bit random to be discussing veal through text. x

Some people are just nuts. If they choose not to eat meat, its their choice. They've no right to force that on everyone else. I think you're better off without him. And, personally, I love veal too.

I eat meat, I just can't bring myself to eat veal. I only eat free-range and Kobe beef. And for anyone else who reads Discover magazine, studies on animals show they do indeed have, feel, and express feelings just like humans do....
