Today, I noticed my nephew has blue eyes, freckles and dimples which don't run in my family or my sister's husband's family, but they do run in my husband's family. FML

Run a DNA test on both. Then kick ass if your poor sweet nephew is your stepson.

Maybe you're over reacting? Sorry :(

that doesn't mean anything. blue eyes are caused when you get two faulty genes that can't produce melanin in your eyes. it could be that both the kids mom and dad had brown eyes but both carried the blue eye gene and through randomization the kid got the two defective genes.

That's because of how gene traits work. Your parents can have 1 recessive and 1 dominant gene, so only the dominant show. But the two recessives can go to the kid which is random, which gives them the recessive trait. Aka the blue eyes, freckles, and dimples.

that doesnt really mean anything

You really need to take biology and learn that genetics has recessive genes and dominant and it might not be showing blue eyes are recessive so it couldn't have shown for generations!

It could just be recessive genes in your nephews' assumed parents.
