Today, I noticed my nephew has blue eyes, freckles and dimples which don't run in my family or my sister's husband's family, but they do run in my husband's family. FML

Family extension

Today, I ran into a friend that I hadn't seen in about 5 years. She had her 4-year-old son with her. I couldn’t help but notice her son looked almost identical to mine. He even had a very distinct facial feature that my husband has as well. What are the odds all three of them have the same defect? FML

Today, I sent a picture of my two little nephews to my friends, who now keep telling me how my older nephew looks exactly like me. They’re starting to make awkward statements such as, “Are you sure you didn’t have sex with your sister in-law?” FML

Today, as I was perusing old photos with my mother, I found one of her with a "childhood friend" at her wedding to my dad. Now I know where my green eyes and blotchy neck birthmark came from, and it's not from the man I’ve been calling "dad" for 40 years. FML

Today, after always laughing when my mom told me to avoid dating any guy with green eyes and thinking it was some weird prejudice, she told me the truth. My father cheated and had at least six other kids. They all have green eyes and look alike. FML

Today, my family is too damn close. My uncle on my dad's side just got my aunt on my mum's side pregnant, three cousins from dad's side are dating three cousins from mum's side, and a half brother from my dad is marrying my half sister from my mum. We are the inbred rednecks of this town. FML

Today, I was chatting with my optician and it came up that eye colour is determined by parents eye colour, such as how blue and brown-eyed parents can’t make a green-eyed baby. My wife and I are blue and brown. Our 6 year-old has green eyes. I confronted her and she admitted she'd had an affair. FML

just because your nephew looks like your husband doesnt mean he is the dad. i look exactly like my cousin but trust me, my parents and her parents did not do it with each other. some traits can be through distant relatives and it can also be just a councidence. dont make such hasty conclusions about a situation when you dont know for sure what happened.

To all of you saying that those are recessive traits that just now showed up you do realize that those are 3 recessive traits and that the odds of inheriting them all in one generation after no previous generations have had them is close to impossible right? For one red hair requires both carriers to have it and to have no dominant alleles. Although freckles are sex linked with red hair in most cases the fact that there are dimples seems a bit much.

If you distrust your husband so much it's time to get a divorce. Trust is the glue that holds marriages together and without it it really doesn't matter what a paternity test might tell you.
