Is it sad I'm 16 and I know how genetics work better then op
Same here. I learned genetics in 7th grade, and this is just sad. You might not have blue eyes, or your spouse, but your child could end up with blue eyes because of a possible great great great (however many) grandparents back that had blue eyes.
Ignorant as ****
Some genes can run in a family but only show in some offspring for example, if the F1 generation had blue eyes, the F2 might not, but the F2 offspring can. Don't jump to conclusions, OP. But if he did bang your sister, FYL.
I learned all about recessive genes in science class with the- peas in the pod example. :P So, if it doesn't run in "your" family, how did your "sister" end up having a baby with those traits? It is in the line somewhere. Becareful what you're accusing your husband and sister of.
Blue eyes are caused by double recessive aren't they? So both OP's family and the father's family would have to have the traits somewhere...
Oh have some faith ;)
Actually, blue eyes have to run in your family in order for your nephew to have it. It's a recessive gene which means both parents have to have it. Your sister probably has a dominant brown eye which is why you think you don't have blue genes.
#49 Actually, both parents do not need to have blue eyes, you just need the gene. Example: I have brown eyes, but I have the blue eye reccesive gene. If I was to marry a blue eyed girl and have children with her it would be more likely my children would have blue eyes. However, that does not mean they will end up with blue eyes, they may end up with brown eyes. Or they could very well end up with green eyes. Genetics are impossible to predict.
Blue eyes and freckles are both recessive traits so they can pop up even if neither parent has them. Not sure about dimples but they probably are too.
Genetics just is not as simple as you seem to think it is. Not only is blue a recessive gene (meaning you must have two copies to express it), random DNA mutation can also cause this type of change. Don't jump to conclusions.
Is that how that white couple had a black child that was genetically theirs? Through mutation?
Its actually possible. But one of Parents have to have the gene for certain colour - maybe frm one of their ancestors.
@55 what about that white woman who had a black baby from watching a pr0n movie?! o.O
Because your husband is the only blue eyed man with freckles and dimples in the world. Was your sister in Ireland around the time your nephew was conceived?
Could be anybody maybe not your husband but dimples are DEFINITELY a dominant gene that they had to get from a parent... I'd be worried if I were the husband.
My niece has dimples. Her father doesn't.y sister doesn't. And unfortunately, the ass is definitely her father. Hers are much less noticeable as she grew up though.

Run a DNA test on both. Then kick ass if your poor sweet nephew is your stepson.
Maybe you're over reacting? Sorry :(
