Today, I once again told my son he needed a job and a girlfriend because I simply could not keep him in my house anymore. He yelled, "No, I can do whatever I want!" Then went back to playing video games. He's 38. FML

Today, my son apparently has no interest in having a life. He goes from his tiny one-bed flat to work, then back home again to play with his computer. It’s a good job, so he can afford a life, but he has no friends, never dates or goes anywhere, he even gets his shopping delivered. What can I do? FML

Both are at fault. Yeah, son's a deadbeat and needs to get off his ass. But mom needs a wake-up call too; jobs aren't easy to come by in this economy, and even if he got one, he still might not be able to afford his own place. And treating getting a girlfriend as being as easy as going to the store and buying a soda is simpleminded; finding a relationship can be a lengthy and trying process that can net you nothing. You need a certain amount of luck to get a job; you need a much bigger amount of luck to get a girlfriend. Mom and son need some mediation; he needs to get the wheels moving, but mom needs to realize it's not as easy as she seems to think it is and needs to cut him a break as long as he's making an honest effort.

My advice would to look at selling your house - get yourself a nice little place that only fits you and your spouse. then conveniently forget to tell the lazy ungrateful bastard. then he can do whatever he wants on the sidewalk.
