we have stuff in our cuboard. I think there is a canned treacle pudding from 97 but my house mate won't throw it out even after eating canned fish that went off after 5 years. the throwing up still never taught him that lesson the op was given the food I'm sure he trusted his parents to give him decent food FML and my god no one comment on any grammee or spelling I really hate people who think they are better than others by pointing out grammer mistakes.
hahahahhaha
so...even though things have "expiration dates" doesn't mean they actually expire. The soup was sterilized in the canning process and as long as it remains sealed, it should stay good indefinitely. Now i know a lot of people are hard core set on throwing things out the day they expire but think about this. Going from 1159pm (perfectly ok to eat) to 1201am (rancid) just doesn't make any sense with an expiration date. Oh well, i will continue to eat my expired food and throw it away when it actually goes bad and still be completely healthy
Which is why lots of things don't have an expiration date.. they have a "best before" date.. meaning it's still good after the date, just not as good. (but yeah don't wait too long after the date cause otherwise then it'll be expired haha)
actually, the "best before" or "Expired" date is just the shelf life. After those dates, they can't legally sell that product, and have to throw it out, even if it is still good. Waste of food, I say, but better than having a whole bunch of lawsuits on your hands from poisoned customers.
go to hospital. u may have botulism. was the can expanded? if so, definitely go
Ew, why would you drink tomato soup? That really sucks but at the same time, didn't you notice that you practically grew up with that can of soup? Well, sucks...
haha this is so stupid... he won't get sick, and nothing bad will happen! Canned food doesn't expire! That's why, when people have food drives and such, you give CANNED FOOD, because no matter how long it sits around on a shelf in a shelter, waiting for a homeless person to take it, it will still be good for the person to eat! They ask for "Canned foods and non perishables"... so this guy should submit another FML as, Today, people on FML found out that I'm a fail liar with no life. FML.
How does canned soup expire??
My parents are the same way! I hate coming home from college and finding old food in their house!!

Oh damn. Didn't it have a smell of some sort?
Dude...the FIRST thing I check with canned food from anywhere is the expiration date. YDI for assuming everything in your parents' house is edible. We have canned/boxed food in this house from 10 years ago that my boyfriends' mom won't throw away cause "it's a waste of food", yet she won't eat it herself.
