How did this debate turn into 'how many parents (and of which gender)? This should be about what need to be done about her mother-in-law and her sister-in-law. I think she could do without these toxic people in her life. Let the baby's father go to see them by himself, and she should just drop them out of her life. She doesn't need people saying things like that in front of her child.

I wonder, did they have any valid points? I know it would be hard not to be defensive but did they state reasons or give any explanation as to why they feel this way? To think your daughter would be better off without you means either they're very narrow minded and you're not the mother they think you should be (not saying they're right, everyone does not need to be the same) or you have some issues you could address....

I agree. I always assume that when someone tell a crazy story the story is: crazy. And if this really did happen it must've had a reason. OP should consider his/her relationsship to the child.
