Today, I polished off the delicious iced gingerbread cookies in the pantry. I'd assumed the little flecks on them were speckles of broken icing, but as I went to throw the cookie bag away, a larva crawled out. The hundreds of flecks were moth eggs. I've been eating the cookies for three days. FML

A little upsetting, but that's the worst of it. You're actually probably a bit healthier now than you were before. Still, you should really store this sort of thing in an airtight container.

Seriously how didn't you notice when you were makeing the cookie?!

She probably just bought them at a store, it said they were in a cookie bag. Why would you bake cookies at put them in a bag? lol. Some people just don't think before they speak.

Maybe she did not bake 'em. But at least notice while you are eating them. You don't just stuff your face just because it's there. Check sometimes.

hahahaha wow some people can be so stupid sometimes... hahah when you were making the cookie... hahahah

i hope you know you're going to have to throw out everything in your cupboard now. those things can literally get through sealed jars, i've know people it's happened to. and figure out where you got them from and stop shopping there, and freeze all your grains for a day as soon as you get home, it will kill them. but yeah something similar happened to me about 10 years ago. i was eating raisins, picked one up, and underneath was a larva. can't eat raisins to this day.

That happened to me with pistachios. I opened the shell, and instead of a yummy nut, there was a cocoon. Didn't eat the things again for another ten years.

Well, at least it wasn't maggots. That would be ewwwwwwww

How is this an FML? You just got a free serving of protein along with yours sweets. And its not like moth larva carry any diseases or anything. If they've been eating the same stuff you eat (cookies in this case), its highly unlikely you'll catch anything from them.

It's true. They are perfectly safe to eat. In fact they are in most of the dry goods we eat. That's why dry foods expire really, not because they go bad, but because there are insect eggs in them. Not to mention the various bug parts in everything you eat. I said everything.
