Today, I ran a red light in front of a cop and got pulled over. My friend thought it would be funny to throw a knife in my lap and scream "Help me officer, he has a knife!" FML

just because there are some people who don't think clearly, doesn't mean everyone does, and you said that yourself. that goes for knives, guns, or any other weapon you have, and may even have a license for (when appropriate). at least in America, when you become a black belt in karate, your hands and feet are considered to be lethal weapons in court. would you expect them to kill someone on instinct? no, karate gives excellent discipline, but again, it depends on the person and not the method (knives, guns, broken beer bottle, martial arts)
