Today, I received an acceptance letter to Juilliard. After showing it to my mom, she tells me I can't attend because Robin Williams graduated from Juilliard, and he now has too much facial hair. FML

It's not your moms decision, it's yours. You should go anyway & congratulations.

My head hurts just trying to figure her logic. Oh wait, there isn't any.

Wow. congratulations for getting accepted! :)

Tell your mom, correlation does not equal causation:)

I assume your mom didn't go to a very good college (if she went at all)?

Moms are weird. Ok. But that's not very nice. And whats wrong with not going to college? My sister is a cosmetologist.

Exactly how did your sister become a cosmetologist without going to cosmetology school? Trade schools/colleges may not be a traditional form of "college", but even cosmetologists have to put in a specific amount of classroom hours learning trade specific anatomy, chemistry, business, and law, put in a set amount of skill-training hours, plus pass State Board exams to become licensed, and have continuing education to maintain their license. I understand what you may have meant by your comment, but your execution came out oddly. It may as well have said "What's wrong with not going to college? My sister is a mannequin."

Tell her to shut up and go anyways

She'd make up a reason to keep you from going anywhere. She doesn't want to loose her little girl. She'll get over it. Send your acceptance reply and congrats. Now you need to find a way to not be crippled with debt on graduation. Apply for every grant you can find. Seriously. Being an artist $150k in the hole will not be fun. Get funding.

Your mom still shouldn't be able to tell you what to do Do what you want duii

You mom is still your mom no matter what. 5 or 35, she will still have don't influence over some of your decisions. Turning 18 won't mean you don't need her anymore.
