Congrats, I must say, It sounds like my sorry assed old man I had for a dad...
Who needs supports?
bunch of dr phils
Well yeah! That shit isn't cheap!
someone just wants attention. good job naming the "prestigious university" I don't know any ivies that send out acceptances this early. and scholarships and finance stuff isn't really until later.
Actually, the early signing period for athletics just ended so yes, ivies do accept this early. In some cases the finances have already been determined at this time. I have no problem saying which one I went to: PRINCETON
Sorry, my daughter won't stop kicking the table the computer is on and her kicking did something to the computer so it posted my comment before I finished. Not to assume that the OP is an athlete and of course I know that ivies do not give out athletic scholarships; I mentioned it simply to illustrate the point that in some cases the ivies have indeed already accepted students and made the financial arrangements so it is entirely possible that the OP is telling the truth. When I got my letter of acceptance and scholarship offer, my parents rolled their eyes at me. My mom said, "Jesus Christ, we'll never hear the end of this one." She didn't want me to tell anyone and wanted me to decline because her relationship with her 'best friend' relied on the best friend outdoing my mom in every category, and that couldn't happen if my mom had a daughter at Princeton. She wanted me to go to community college so she could save face with her friend. My father's only concerns were how much he was going to have to kick in and how many boys were at Princeton. He'd wanted me to go to an all girls college so he wouldn't have to worry about me coming home preggers. Didn't go to community college. Didn't come home preggers. Big successful career. They still brag about my loser brother but I know deep down they know how well I did and it's bugging them like crazy.
hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha oh man!! my dad would never do that to me! he loves me!! lol sorry op
this is stupid. why is this an FML? I hate it when people get amazing, life-changing news, and then something insignificant happens to them immediately after and all of a sudden its the worst thing ever. just shut up and be happy with the fact that you got into the college you wanted, and that they're giving you money! if that were me, someone couldve run up and shot me in the foot with a crossbow and punched me in the face right then, and it still wouldve been a great day.
Were you doing this for your dad? YDI for making it about him and not you. It sounds like he's worried about money and probably won't be all that supportive. Get a job and manage your stipend wisely.

call me oldschool, but this is what I did when my dad told me to get out and get a job: 1. i moved out. 2.i got a job.
Geez, what crawled up his butt and died? Does he normally show support OP or does he not? If he doesn't then maybe you should have figured he'd respond this way? Be proud you did so well! Go celebrate with your friends instead! Many congratulations! :D
