Call out sick; make little hints about being sick during the week. Cough a lot during your shifts make a couple of off hand "I feel queasy" and "woah the room is spinning" comments; and when you call out pretend to throw up. Make it realistic by dropping clam chowder into a toilet. They, legally have no right to ask have beyond 'do you have a fever', when you call out for being sick
You shouldn't have to explain anything beyond I can't make it, I'm sick. No need for all the fake outs. I never gave a reason when calling in for the day. And I wasn't asked.
its a retail job. start applying for new jobs now and quit before her wedding.
Ever heard of call in sick??
Tbh, retail jobs are a dime a dozen. If the wedding is a good ways off, I would start looking for another job that has a manager that respects that their employees need time off for important life events. Let them know beforehand that your sister is getting married on (x) date and you will absolutely need that day off. Retail jobs are everywhere, seeing your sister get married is something you'll probably never see again.
Many years ago I was working for sam's club dur to circumstance I have to have a regular schedule 11pm-8am. It worked fine until thhe manager found out and changed the schefule without notice it had me working overnights on sunday and opening on monday so that meant foulbe shift with no overtimr because their pay period started on monday. Plus they would wait until you eere SCHEDULED for time off for vacations, FMLA's, and other preapproved time off and tell you that you have to cancel because you need to be available 24/7 at a moments notice. I made sure I had gotten ALL requested time off in writtling so they could use that as an excuse to fire me. That really possed them off when I would show them the psperwork that they signed off on hehehe
It's within the blackout dates for retail. If you requested it months ago and told yes, just ******* go and say you were sick or some shit. If you didn't, well sucks for you.
I don't work in retail but in restaurant and same, weekends are the busiest days but my boss is always understanding and let any of us have the day off for important things like birthdays and weddings. Find yourself another job with a better boss, you will be way happier.

If you can't go to your sister's wedding, bring your sister's wedding to you. I'm sure your boss would deliver a lovely speech. "Marriage is like working retail. You can't ask for weekends off. And if you already asked for a weekend off, you can't have it anymore."
Talk to higher-ups? I wouldn't just accept this as fair, try to find a solution; best of luck!
