Today, I returned from a month-long stay in a psych ward for severe depression and suicide attempts. The first words my friends say to me when I call them and let them know I'm out? "Does this mean you're not gonna be so emo? 'cause that was really annoying." FML

You mean "ex-friends", right? Tell them it's their fault you were in there. Bastards.

I am so sorry and I hope that now you are ok and on the road back to recovery. It annoys the hell out of me that when anybody shows any kind of emoiton they are considered emo, it's as if showing any sign of sadness, depression or any other emotion like that is wrong, its not it is an emotion and if not shown it can lead to dangerous circumstances and situations The next person who say "OMG I was so emo I cried today" I am going to SCREAM !!!

i think people like you are better off dead. now stop being a jackass. this is why you have no friends.

"Emo" is something most people believe is a personality. But she was depressed, which is an illness that needs attention. You just think it's a choice to be depressed, in which case, go ******* die.

I have found that the people who talk a lot about being depressed are doing it just for the attention. I call them fashion sutters and, honey, you sound like one. Shut the **** up and find a new hobby, clearly this one isn't working for you.

Today, I posted a comment to someone's FML, and was really proud that I was the first commenter, so I said "First!". It turns out I was 21st, so now I look like a total idiot. Plus I somehow feel that being the first to post a comment someone makes me the winner or something. FML.

i had depression too, and it's definitely not all about getting attention. find friends who really understand what you went through and don't listen to all these assholes who think you deserved it.

I can't believe all the YDIs. She wouldn't've been in a psych ward if she was just "being emo" or looking for attention. OP, I'm sorry you were feeling depressed, I'm glad you're better, and I hope you find more sensitive friends!

I'm really sorry about the problems you're going through, but it sounds like you're leaning too heavily on your friends. Your friends can cheer you up, be there for you, etc... But you can't treat them like full-time therapists. Or they were trying to make you laugh. And if they were, what's wrong with that?
