WTF! You have weird siblings.. My brother and I would never do that to each other
you deserve it if you got kicked out of the party that was at your own back yard. could of been an ace if u called the cops on that party.
This is only a FML if it was your birthday party. Also, what is grammatically correct, 'an FML' or 'a FML'? 'An FML' sounds fancier and more cohesive...
#26 - Neither. FML is an interjection, not a noun. You could turn it into an adjective phrase (e.g. "a FML situation" or "a FML text"), but that's about it. Also keep in mind that 'an' is only used in front of vowels (a, e, i, o, and u) - so saying "an FML" is always wrong.
haha knowledge is power
Was thinking too much about the meaning to consider how it is pronounced. So yes, you are of course right by pointing out that when spoken as an abbreviation it should be an "an". Regardless, from a grammatical point of view it's still an interjection and not a noun. So saying "an FML" on its own remains as slang. ;)
I love how #26 just got a random conversation going so easily haha
#31 is wrong on pretty much all counts. When it comes to FML (the website), "FML" has indeed become a noun. Hence why people say things like "this is not an FML" or "that's a really sucky FML" etc. "FML" is a name for the type of story, therefore it is a noun. It originally started as an interjection, but has become both an adjective and noun in terms of its use on this website. Another good example of this is Google. Google started as a noun but has also become a verb in modern useage (eg. "What's the capital of Kazakhstan?" "Just go and google it.") Slang, perhaps, but it's still a verb - and so FML is still a noun in the context of its use here. Secondly, it's "an", not "a". You say the letters "FML", as in, "ef-em-el". You don't say the sounds. Therefore, you are starting with a vowel sound "e", so it's "an". Mintcar is right - like the examples of "hour" and "honour".
Thanks guys, I had a feeling it was 'an' but I didn't want to be wrong and be hunted down by crazed Gammar Nazis with their pencil of death.
maybe he wants to protect you from being at a huge party where he knows you might get drunk and have to be babysat- or taken advantage of.
You can't get "kicked" out of your own backyard so YDI for listenting to your brother.
I have thrown plenty of parties, believe me, a cop knocking at my door never ended any of them. They can't shut you down. It's not a crime to have people over your house. OP there must be a reason you're not invited so I'm going to lean towards YDI.
Yes, but they can shut it down if there is a) drinking b) drugs c) fights And most good parties have 1 or more of those.
Hey, it's inter-species erotica, fucko!
that's why you call the parents...bet mommy and daddy can shut it down. then the brother will be embarrassed in front of all his friends and also grounded.

Doesn't say how old you are, but if you're 14 and he's 18 or so, I wouldn't really blame him
I would crash it...what is he going to do, tell your Mommy and Daddy? Or throw food colored water balloons out your window at his guests. Or call the cops and get them shut down. Although the last two are juvenile, they are also effective...
