Today, I saw a photo on my mother-in-law's Facebook, proudly showing off the horrible job she'd done of painting her car. I sarcastically commented that I wouldn't inflict that on my worst enemy's ride. An hour later, she came by and emptied a bucket of paint over my windshield. FML

Today, my husband has been painting our house all weekend and plans to finish the job after work today. I decided to surprise him by completing the job myself. Painting the last window frame, I dropped the open tin of white paint, right onto our car roof. FML

Today, my wife keyed my car and spilled wine on the seats because she saw I commented on a female friend’s picture on Facebook. I told her how repairs are gonna be expensive, and she responded, “You should have thought about that before complimenting other bitches on Facebook!” FML

Today, I finished a big art project. It was a self-portrait done in acrylics. Proud of my piece, I showed my mom. After some thought her first comment was, "well, I'm either going to insult your art or your face." FML

Today, I was really excited that I'd made it the two weeks I'd borrowed my mother-in-law's new car without putting a scratch on it. I got off work to discover a customer's child throwing rocks in the parking lot. They cracked the windshield. FML

Today, every time I think of having any children, I remember that an idiotic neighbor let her kids paint all over my car with permanent marker, so I eventually forget about it. FML

Today, while painting a wall, I handed a bucket of paint up to my friend who was standing on the top rung of a ladder. She said she felt dizzy, and came crashing down on me, along with the paint on my head. FML

Today, I was sitting in my old rusty truck in an empty parking lot, when some old lady parks beside me and opens her door, hitting my truck. Having a used up truck, I didn't mind. But you could tell that it made her mad, when she came back with the manager demanding that I pay for her paint job. FML

A little disturbed that the OP as well as a lot of people here seem to think that somehow antagonizing this woman was OK just because she's the OP's mother-in-law. Yes, a lot of people have strained relationships with their mothers-in-law but that doesn't mean that anyone who happens to have this title is inherently evil and deserving of scorn. OP, admittedly I don't know the details of your relationship with this woman and I will admit that her behavior is out of line, but I'm getting the impression that this isn't the first time that you made comments like this at her expense. That doesn't make you funny or clever, it makes you a bully and there are absolutely no circumstances which would merit your behavior.

Normally I would agree with you, but we don't know the whole story, and if the MIL acted like she did I have to assume there is more to the story. No it doesn't justify what the MIL did, but if OP goes out of his way to antagonize her then makes the situation more understandable.
