Today, I scored two prime baseball tickets from a supplier at work. I phoned my dad to tell him the good news. He said that's great, my brother and him would love to see the game. I said, no, I'm taking you to the game. He told me I was being selfish and hung up the phone. FML

Today, I was telling my co-workers about how I'd gotten tickets to a concert in a few days. My boss overheard. Later, he told me I now have to work on the night of the concert. However, he was kind enough to offer to buy the tickets off me for half of what I'd paid for them. FML

Today, I bought my girlfriend two tickets to a Broadway show that was coming through town she really wanted to see. I couldn't attend with her due to work so she said she would take her mom. I found out later she took her ex. Now they're back together, and I paid for the date that made it happen. FML

Today, my dad and mom and I were going out to eat dinner. My dad wanted a romantic dinner just with my mom so he told me to make an excuse not to go. I did, which ended up as a huge fight, grounded and phone taken away. My dad just stood there in the background putting thumbs up. FML

Wow that's definitely something that my dad would (and has) done. I asked him if we could go to a game together last summer and he got a set of tickets for him and my brother, and for another game, me, him AND my brother. And when I got upset because I wanted to spend some time with just him like my brother got to he told me the same thing. There's nothing wrong with wanting to spend quality time with your dad, but I guess some dads think that way.

I can't even believe people are saying that you were being selfish or a jerk. You get tickets to a game and invite your dad, so he just assumes you wouldn't want to go and he can invite someone else using your tickets, and people are mad at you for saying no? I would've done the same thing! I agree with some other posters though. Take your brother now, or better yet, take anybody who likes baseball and would actually appreciate the game. You'll have more fun there without your dad anyway since he's obviously a complete asshole.
