hey thanks for the comments guys. to answer a few questions neither the kid nor the parent knew he was allergic. aparently he reacted to the red food coloring which caused him to break out in a full body rash the poor little guy was so upset. but now we know he isn't allergic to all ice cream so I told him and the mom they will have free ice cream on me for the rest of the year... as long as it doesn't have red dye! Thanks to all who commented, Cheers!

Simpsons did it!
I wonder what the kid was allergic to -- my guess is either a) lactose or b) the shame and disgrace of being given a hand-out in front of all his friends.
Most people aren't allergic to lactose, they are just intolerant, meaning this wouldn't happen. If he got rushed to the hospital it was something else. Just a quick fact.
or strawberry.
There are people who are allergic to it, it's just not as common. Some kind of nut is more likely, but it could have been lactose
my brother was allergic to milk when he was little. not intolerant. allergic. its actually quite common.
You did a good deed, so don't blame yourself. How would you have known? I hope he's alright tho :).
don't be so hard on yourself OP! you tried to be nice and generous and just had a little mishap. hope the kid gets better tho (:
That wasn't your fault, if the kid knew he couldn't have any he shouldn't have accepted it
it makes me wonder where his mother or whoever supposed to watch the kids is.
The first thing you teach kids with allergies is to always tell someone about their allergy before they accept food. My best friend's six year old can manage to ask about ANYTHING to make sure there are no peanuts before she accepts baked goods/treats/candy from teachers or friend's parents. If neither he or his parents knew about the allergy until now, its no one's fault, if they knew and didn't tell him to warn people, carry an EPI pen and/or medical ID bracelet then it's his parent's fault.
"Call the number on my bracelet."
This was an episode of The Simpsons.
More like **** the kids Life, he didn't have money to pay for the icecream(maybe he was poor, I dunno) and felt sad, you gave him one for free and had to go to the hospital because that one icecream made him sick.. Atleast you had the best intentions, OP. Don't blame yourself.
