hey thanks for the comments guys. to answer a few questions neither the kid nor the parent knew he was allergic. aparently he reacted to the red food coloring which caused him to break out in a full body rash the poor little guy was so upset. but now we know he isn't allergic to all ice cream so I told him and the mom they will have free ice cream on me for the rest of the year... as long as it doesn't have red dye! Thanks to all who commented, Cheers!

bo good english, you need punish. [/sarcasm]
Because he's a child, it's ice cream, and he doesn't understand the severity of his allergy? Maybe.
Allergies are very common these days - as someone who works in ice-cream, you should know this. I guess you've learned never to do it again though! It is nice to be nice sometimes, but not at the potential risk to someone's life!
I think that if it was an older kid, then the kid should have said something about his/her allergies. If it was a younger kid, a parent or someone who was responsible for them should have been there to make sure the kid didn't buy anything that aggravated said allergy.
The kid didn't have any money, so the parents thought he couldn't get any ice cream.
Well, it was a group of children which is why the child was unsupervised by a parent. If I was a parent, I would assume my child could play with a bunch of other kids without being given ice-cream by a random stranger.
The OP did comment and say that the allergy was new, so my last comment is kinda worthless. But say the allergy was known. If the kid was older and was hanging with some friends, he should have said no to that particular ice cream. If it was a young child, the supervising parent should have gone up with the group of kids to get the ice cream. Little kids aren't always that great with money anyways, so a parent might have needed to help with that, and the parent would have seen the ice cream person give the kid something they're allergic to.
Poor kid. i hope he's alright. wasn't your fault, op.
Aww OP. You were being generous. Its not your fault for not knowing he was allergic.
Hey, he did get a free ride in an ambulance and got a lot of attention. I'll bet his non-allergic friends were totz jelly!
Free? Where do you live? In the US (where the OP is from) it is really only free if you have super good (read expensive) insurance, or military insurance. Otherwise it can cost up to $20,000. Oh it's you :) I will keep in mind the known sarcasm.
Free for the kid, anyway. Not for his upbringing.
In NZ, it only costs $75-$85 for an ambulance because the government funds it. Its free in certain cases too-I think when you have a serious car accident and are rushed from the scene? Foreigners pay a fortune though, but I can understand that since they don't pay taxes so the govt doesn't pay for them.
You're a very compassionate person, OP. Don't beat yourself up over it, you were just trying to brighten a child's day! And I agree with perdix, all that attention made it even better for him! Even though it did suck that he got an allergic reaction, he will be alright. :)
You were just being nice you didn't know don't be hard on yourself
