Today, I sold ice cream to a group of kids. One of them looked sad, because he was the only one who couldn't buy any, so I gave him some for free. Apparently, he was allergic to something in it, and ended up being rushed to the hospital. FML

Snarty tells us more.

hey thanks for the comments guys. to answer a few questions neither the kid nor the parent knew he was allergic. aparently he reacted to the red food coloring which caused him to break out in a full body rash the poor little guy was so upset. but now we know he isn't allergic to all ice cream so I told him and the mom they will have free ice cream on me for the rest of the year... as long as it doesn't have red dye! Thanks to all who commented, Cheers!

That sucks OP! It wasn't your fault. You didn't know.

Oh that's really nice! You're a generous person OP!

And that's why you never take "free ice cream" of "free candy" from strangers. As for you OP, you were just trying to be nice, FYL.

Just because it's free doesn't mean it's any different from the treats op sold the other kids...

You had nothing but good intention. You should be proud of yourself because you have a heart, which is oddly hard to find these days.

oh snap lol, that sucks.. hopefully you don't get sued or something. Should do a follow up and let us no how it turns out :))

Why would OP get sued 'or something' if they didn't know the kid was allergic to the red dye in the ice cream? If they even tried, no judge will take the case seriously.

Woah, I was the same way. I've never heard of anyone else having it too. I always got made fun of and weird looks from people who didn't think you could be allergic to milk.

It wasn't your fault OP. You were just being generous.

People are too hard on themselves! How are you supposed to know! Good intentions! I would have done the same thing!

If the kid knew he was allergic, he should not have taken any and should have said something. To be honest, op - he was going to try it sooner or later if he wanted it badly enough. This will teach him a lesson and he won't do it again.

OP said neither the kid nor the parents knew about the allergy.

Hey as long as your intention was good and the boy forgives you, it's all gonna be fine. Don't worry about and just maybe pay him a visit with some some treats. (Not Ice Cream Though) :)

He is paying him back in Ice cream...for a year, lucky kid!

Don't be guilty. It was very nice of you.

And now you know why he couldn't buy any!
