Today, I spent all day organizing a list of electronic parts for my boss. I found the easiest way was to color problem parts in the spreadsheet red and okay parts green. After I finished at the end of the day, I found out my boss is red-green colorblind. FML

How about a column where you put "Good" or "Problem"? Then you can sort the spreadsheet by that column. And if you really want colors, you can sort the spreadsheet by good/problem and apply/change the colors in 2 seconds. Then you change back to the default sort.

ummm, im not a doctor, but i dont really think people can be only red and green colorblind. oh, and if u r doing stuff like organizing spreadsheets, or somewhere along those lines, maybe you'd know things about your boss.

Actually, red/green colour blindness is the most common type of colour blindness. What it means is that people have issues distinguishing between the colours red and green and will often confuse the two. Sometimes if they try hard enough they can make a guess and get it right though. For instance one of my professors asked the class if anyone was colour blind today to make sure they could read the board properly (she was using a red marker). One guy in class was and he could see the mark but he couldn't really tell if it was green or red. As for not knowing it about their boss, OP might be new in the last few months or whatever and simply not have known. It isn't exactly something that comes up in everyday conversation. There are lots of reasons OP might not have known about the boss's colour blindness.

I am red-green colorblind and some shades I can distinguish from eachother and some I can't. But I don't think in terms of color, so even if I can tell the differance, color-coding is a poor system for me. So defining what colors are effected is a mute point. The color blind don't generally associate color with the memory of information. So if this story is true it is a valid FML.

Come on, that is not a problem, it will take you less than 1 min to fix that. Just press “Ctrl+F” → click “Replace” → in “Find what:” choose “Format” → “Fill” → select the same red you choose Do the same thing with “Replace with:” but choose BLUE so he can see it Repeat for green. Voila took you less than 1 min to fixed it

My boss is red green color blind, he found out by saying the grass was a nice red as a child =P
