Today, I spent my date night babysitting. After waiting three hours later than I was supposed, the mother finally gets home at 11, too late for me to get out and have any fun. Already annoyed, I take the money as she says, "I hope this is enough, I got hungry and spent some of your money." FML

Have her pay up. Technically it was still her money since she had not yet given it to you, but it was owed to you for services rendered, so she's in your debt.... either way, did you or did you not make her pay up what she owed? FYL.

YDI. Clearly, you babysit to only get the ending money. There is no "straight fee" cuz the one paying you has a life, and doesn't always have the money you want to be paid. That's just what you get when you're working an odd job.

The "straight fee" is the agreed upon amount that the parent is supposed to pay to the babysitter for services rendered. By spending some of the babysitter money, and not stopping by an ATM to get more money out, the mother does still owe. No one babysits without having a standard fee. It's like going to your job then getting underpaid because the boss did something else with money that SHOULD have gone to you.

Do you know how old the poster is? She's probably in high school, and states/cities have laws as to when high schoolers are allowed to be out.

You're an idiot. It doesn't matter if your parents give you a flippin' curfew, the CITY, and in some cases the STATE, gives all people under a certain age a curfew that if you are out past it, you are either taken home, or arrested, depending on what the officer feels like doing. I knew a few people who were taken to the police station and their parents made them stay there until they felt like going to get them.

I've never heard of a city or state curfew, other than no driving between midnight and 6... And even then, it was only for the first 6 months of being 16.

around here the only people that have curfews are teenagers so it doesn't matter if your 12

I would refuse to babysit again until she paid up, PLUS the extra 3 hours. And spread the word to other babysitters so they know to demand payment up front.

Fat bitch. If she asks you to baby sit again, ask to be paid in advance and, tell her that you'll leave if she isn't back in time unless she calls and pays you extra. People really take advantage of babysitters, it's disgusting.
