Today, I spilt purple washing detergent all over my white carpet. Desperate to get it up I grabbed a blue towel and started mopping it up. The detergent hasn't stained the carpet at all, the blue dye from the towel has. FML

A detergent that stains would be pretty ineffective... Lol That sucks, though.

the first line sounded quite dirty And I was disappointed when I read the rest of that damn post

Since when is something that is essentially soap going to stain things? Did you not think it was going to stain your clothes in the washing machine? YDI for being stupid.

are you serious????? if it didnt stain your clothes why would it stain your carpet????

She states that the purple detergent "did not stain the carpet," which is what leaves people to believe that she was dumb enough to think it would stain. It seems an odd thing to mention if that wasn't in her mind. I agree with the others; she's pretty dumb to think detergent might stain (if that was the case), but she's also ignorant not to know that colored towels leave dye behind. That's why carpet cleaning products always say to "blot with a WHITE" rag. Y-D-I.

It actually doesn't say anywhere in here that she was worried about the detergent staining the carpet. It says she spilled it and wanted to get it up... Then only made the problem worse by mopping it up with something that left a stain. Seriously people; read the damn context clues. That's 4th grade English. I do have to admit though that perhaps she should have left out the color of the detergent which is completely misleading when you read this.

Um, actually, she does suggest she was scared of the detergent staining the carpet because it says she was "desperate" to get it up, and then she goes on to specify that the detergent didn't stain the carpet but the towel did. If she was never worried about the detergent staining in the first place, she wouldn't have specified that it DIDN'T stain.

Towels, no matter what color, aren't supposed to do that O_O. How was the OP supposed to know the blue towel would leak blue dye? It shouldn't have leaked ANY dye.
