Today, I stopped at the gas station to fill up my tank and get some snacks. I paid the cashier, then got back into my car, totally forgetting to pump the $50 worth of fuel I'd just prepaid for. Too bad I didn't realize until my car came to a sputtering stop about a mile down the road. FML

Do you really have the nerve to call people "dumbfucks" after rereading your comment, 46?

If you have the receipt and proof you didn't fill up they should let you fill up. Good day for the guy that got $50 of fuel for free, though. I would never prepay, as I'd do exactly the same.

Fill up then go for snacks...usually you can't go wrong from there...

We don't prepay here in Vermont, we do our stuff and pay inside or outside and get going

been there and some unhonest person will go up to that pump and use it up so you are out $50

That sounds like something I would do. That really sucks :(. Hopefully you had triple A!

I know how that is. At least you don't have social anxiety and could go back and get that problem fixed

11, it's not that we don't care. It's that most companies don't have policies like 48's does and we can't do anything about it. The U.S. has laws stating that the person pumping gas is responsible for spills, overages, proper container, etc.. If you buy a bag of chips and leave it in the parking lot, it's not the clerk's responsibility to give you new chips when someone takes them. I feel bad for people who go through this, but there's nothing I can do to help unless I give them money out of my pocket.
