Well I hope he came back by now. If not, he's a selfish asshole and will regret it when his child grows up and he wants to "reconnect," and his kid tells him to eat shit and go to hell. They usually want to 'be there' for their child after they are grown and the mom did all the hard work raising a kid.

seems like just as a lot of teens/young adults think they are essentially immortal, and things like terrible car accidents or cancer or whatever won't ever happen to them or their friends, a lot of teens/young adults also think that they won't possibly get pregnant, especially if they use contraceptives of some sort (again: NONE OF THESE ARE 100%. especially if you don't use them properly). to be fair, I don't know how old the OP is, but I do think a lot of young people (including myself, at times) have an attitude of "it won't happen to me". Maybe it's in our nature to be optimistic, and not think about these things. It's easy to wonder how people could be surprised by something like this, but I'll be honest, if I found out I was pregnant right now, I would be shocked, and so would my husband. We know it COULD happen, even though we are careful, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't be a surprise.
