Today, I took a girl to a sushi restaurant for our first date. She insisted she's had sushi before, but I had to watch her struggle with the chopsticks for a few minutes before mercifully asking the waitress for a fork. She then ate a fork full of wasabi, thinking it was guacamole. I think there won't be a second date. FML

Maybe she was too shy to say that she hadn't? Some girls don't want to disappoint guys sometimes, so maybe she said yes because she knew you liked sushi?

At least she didn't mistake the wasabi for pistachio ice cream :P

free entertainment my friend lol

Just because she's had it before doesn't mean she's a pro at using chopsticks, or knows everything about wasabi.

Good for you. This girl sounds like an idiot

Who goes to a sushi restaurant and gets guacamole. Tf. How did she even think you can get guac at a Japanese place?

You come off a little snobby, OP.. not everyone is going to always like all of the same things as you. it doesn't mean that you won't be compatible. I'd still try a second date over something that insignificant.. ya never know!

At a company dinner one Christmas, there was a guy carving prime rib at the end of the buffet, with a bowl of horseradish sauce next to it. One of the ladies didn't know prime rib is often served with horseradish, mistook it for mashed potatoes, and took a big bite of it when she got to her table. Hurts me to even think about it.

@op ... really?! you are going to judge a girl because she didnt want to seem uncultured on a first date. seriously cut her some slack all you know about her is that she dosent eat sushi or hasent in a verry long time. sushi has nothing to do with her personality. she was probably extremely embarrassed. take her hiking or for a walk in the park you will likely get to know her better because there will be a need to fill the silence.... nevermind your probably too much of a judgmental douche for someone who isnt perfect. even though your probably not perfect either. good luck finding a mate

Pretty stupid if you choose not to go on a second date because of the chopsticks. The wasabi thing indicates she wasn't familiar with it, the chopsticks don't. A possible sushi lie. Oh gods the horror! I've had sushi plenty of times, and just don't have the brain-to-hand coordination to use, nor do I care what extremist weeaboo thinks or judges. Really glad I'm not dating someone like that.... We use cutlery and not sticks for a reason. Evolution. Our hands. She's better off with someone else.

You know it's perfectly fine to eat sushi with chopsticks or your hands...

She may have been trying to impress you, which is a little sweet, but that dishonesty ain't gonna fly.
