Today, I took my daughter out driving to practice for her road test. I told her to make a left into a parking lot. She missed the 30-foot wide entrance, but not the two-foot wide tree. FML

Congratualtions on wasting the first comment...

Reminds me of when I was learning to drive. First time I was backing out of the driveway, I hit the pedal pretty hard, causing me to nearly hit our mailbox....but, in my defense, the vehicle I was driving was different than the one I learned in, and it was far more sensitive than the older car. Didn't help that Mom kept screaming at me "STOP STOP STOP!"....Caused me to panic and do the opposite haha. Be patient with her OP, she'll learn....although from the sounds of it (with the words 'road test'), she should've already been prepared....good luck!

Practice makes perfect! When I started out driving I almost hit my brick mail box

Beat the tree up you can call me carkeisha

I know it sucks but it happens. I almost drove straight into a tree myself and my drivers ed teacher had to slam on the brakes. Then when I got my permit I was driving with my mother and turned into oncoming traffic at a four way intersection, so that was fun.

Sometimes the parent can be the source of so much anxiety, s/he essentially causes the accident. My mother was a horrible teacher and would tell me how to do exactly nothing until I did it wrong. Then she would yell and punch my arm. Not very logical when my hand is on the wheel.

my mum was terrible "which way should I turn" she'd reply up or down as opposed to left or right, and used to have massive panic attacks at every slight thing, still does to this day after having my license for 6-7 years or so

I refuse to drive with my mom. She often gives vague directions or doesn't pay attention. It makes it very difficult and even though I've told her she doesn't see it as an issue.

Sorry to hear that. I took my daughter, on a weekend, to a large subdivision that was being built. All the roads were paved with signs, no houses, trees, etc., and no traffic/workers. It was great. Only problem was my daughter was scared of backing up. She got over it thou, after 12 mins parked.:-)
