Today, I took my girlfriend to a local drag racing spot to get her more involved with my friends. Her ex showed up and wanted to race me. I won the race, but blew my engine. I had to use his dad's towing service to get my car home. FML

Darn, what a drag that must have been for you.

From the sound of it, maybe he is in high school.

I think I understand the part about you and another drag queen having a race but not sure about the engine & towing stuff. Was it Go-carts?

No where in the FML does it say drag queens...

Ummm....maybe I missed something in this post but it said her ex wanted to race him. So it sounds like the ex wanted to prove something. He just took him up on the challenge. He simply wanted her to be more involved with his friends and his hobbies. Maybe y'all should read the post correctly before judging OP.

His hobby is apparently racing, since that's where he took her. And getting into racing you know blowing your engine is always a possibility. I don't see any reason to give OP sympathy.

#28... The op said it was a "drag racing spot". Pretty obvious his friends are into illegal street racing. If op was any kind if man at all, he wouldn't endanger himself, his friends, or the public by accepting such an idiotic challenge. Winning the race doesn't prove anything, except that op is an idiot who hasn't grown out of the posturing, preening, and strutting stage of an immature male.

Way to go for focusing on the negative side of things!

#100, one day when you grow up, you'll understand the importance of considering both the positive and negative side of things before making a decision you regret.

Now that you have to replace the engine anyways, you can put a larger one in and beat his ass twice. (Hopefully without blowing it up also.)

Get an Autobot. That should fix all your racing troubles, but I figure you'd be burdened with saving the world every other week. "No sacrifice, no victory."

Then you have the chance to say to him it was his son's fault you blew your engine.

How is it his son's fault? OP willngly raced and took the chance. I doubt it's his first time, since he refers to it as a hobby.

As many racers would tell you, you need to do whatever it takes to win. Hope the damage isn't too extensive though... But you still won, so you'd better get some tonight OP ;)

I don't understand the connection between winning a race and getting some... Maybe you could explain juvenile connotation?

44. You've clearly never raced before...

I've never felt the need to prove anything.
