OP here! A lot of these comments are hilarious! Thanks for that and for those that showed us some support and sympathy. We started trick or treating at 5:15. Apparently trick or treating kicks up in our neighborhood around 6/6:30. Now I know. When I went trick or treating when I was younger, everyone started around 4 and people were prepared. Besides, how hard is it put some candy in a bowl? Also, some people commented about why a 2.5 year old needs candy, he doesn't, but we went for the experience. Luckily, we rebounded and had a fun Halloween after that incident.

our trick or treating hours are from 2pm till 6oclock
My housing community set times for it which really grinds my gears, how can you tell someone to stop celebrating a holiday? No one ever set a time limit for opening presents or eating a turkey dinner, it's bullshit.

Good to hear You guys had a fun night! :)
Next time take your kid to that lady's house and get some experience from egging jerk houses :)
When I was around that age my parents took me trick or treating as well - just for the experience. We even dressed up as a family of M&M's once. I think I was about 2 or 3 then. My folks have pictures of all three of us in M&M outfits. I'm glad your son was able to move on from that sad part and have a good experience overall.
Making the best of it. That's all that matters when it comes right down to it I suppose. haha
Next house it is...at least a candy bar would have been nice early isn't a huge deal...
Seriously I would have given him candy! That **** needs a good slap! I don't care if you were early or late this year was my first time handing out candy I was thrilled!!! He would have gotten more then one piece of candy!
How old was this girl? Kids are such evil heartless brats these days it's incredible.
Reading this made me really sad. Your poor son :( I hope he and you recovered and had a nice night after that.
I have my candy around 3-4pm for early arrivals, the lady could of informed you about the times nicely, shes just a bitch.
Poor kid. Children that young just feel the negativity and don't understand how people are. Would it have killed her to give him a piece of candy, even if it was a bit too early? I hope he got over it and got a good haul in the end.
I know. Some parents are so weird about "safety" and "school nights" and that kind of thing.
