Gtca tells us more.
OP here! A lot of these comments are hilarious! Thanks for that and for those that showed us some support and sympathy. We started trick or treating at 5:15. Apparently trick or treating kicks up in our neighborhood around 6/6:30. Now I know. When I went trick or treating when I was younger, everyone started around 4 and people were prepared. Besides, how hard is it put some candy in a bowl? Also, some people commented about why a 2.5 year old needs candy, he doesn't, but we went for the experience. Luckily, we rebounded and had a fun Halloween after that incident.

I would've spat on the door handle.,
What a jerk I'm so glad where I live there's certain hours because that way people can't be rude like her if you're too early or too late
Where I'm from, trick or treating starts pretty early nowadays. The idea is to start before dark and be done at a reasonable time. There are just too many weirdos out there, and parents are understandably cautious. You may argue that I am too young to say this but it's really not what it used to be.
you're actually late considering this was posted 11/1 lol
I'm curious what time it was that you got there..my parents didn't take me out for Halloween until I was 5, I think 2 years old is way too old. I remember seeing some pretty scary decorations even at the age of 6 or 7 that were terrifying, can't imagine being a 2 year old. Like others have said before me, the general rule of thumb is after dark or around 6:00. I don't understand why anyone would want to bring their child out for Halloween when the child is too young to understand. Thumb me down if you want.
2 year olds may also be too young to understands birthdays and christmas but that doesn't mean I'm just gonna skip it because they don't know any better.
I was kinda freaked out about a guy with a hockey mask and knife, but as soon as I walked up, my two year old brother followed, then got scared when the guy said hi really nicely. Maybe its because he jokingly pretended to cut off my fingers a few minutes before, I don't know. (he was giving out full size candy bars :D) Kids are weird sometimes, but they're not scared of everything lol.
My daughters 2.5 years old and she had a blast with her older brother trick or treating..she said trick or treat at the door and thank you after she got her candy..I couldn't imagine not taking her out!!
I don't think it's too young. It's also not a difficult concept, even for a toddler. My little sister was 2 last year and she had no trouble understanding that she had to knock on the door and say trick or treat and she would get candy. She actually had so much fun that she refused to go home even after we'd been out for over an hour and visited pretty much all the houses within a 2 year old's walking distance.
Scrooge of Halloween.
When I used to trick or treat I'd start when I was talking home from school at 330 and everyone was usually all ready to go
yeahhhh... I'm pretty sure I would ring her doorbell consistently until she answered and apologized to my child... what a twat.
Really? I'm not sure how responding in an even more twattish manner would make the situation any better. You could just, you know, get over it and go to the next house. Maybe try to set a good example for your child, instead of teaching them that it's perfectly okay to be a twat when their feelings get hurt.
Not even three ?? Most toddlers that age still wear nappies. This is WAY TOO YOUNG !! Let little kids have fun their own age, nowadays everything pushes them towards teenagehood years in advance. I suspect this is to gain new consumers.
My stepmom took my 2 year old brother and I out. He liked to run in the street, but otherwise he was good until the end when he got tired.
Since when is trick or treating supposed to be for teenagers?
I believe most Trick or Treaters are between 0-12 and even 12 is pushing it. Just cause they are two and celebrating a holiday doesn't mean it's pushing them toward being a teenager.
Awe! I'm so sorry OP! That's terrible! :(
