Gtca tells us more.
OP here! A lot of these comments are hilarious! Thanks for that and for those that showed us some support and sympathy. We started trick or treating at 5:15. Apparently trick or treating kicks up in our neighborhood around 6/6:30. Now I know. When I went trick or treating when I was younger, everyone started around 4 and people were prepared. Besides, how hard is it put some candy in a bowl? Also, some people commented about why a 2.5 year old needs candy, he doesn't, but we went for the experience. Luckily, we rebounded and had a fun Halloween after that incident.

if you see her trick or treating at your house give her needlenose pliers to get the stick out of her ass
Too early probably means the owner of the house forgot it was Halloween or didn't have time to go to the store a get some candy yet. They started early in my neighbourhood too. I wasn't expecting them. It wasn't even dusk and I had the little, little ones trick or treating at my door. Thankfully, I had candy already bought.
the lady was a bitch, but it's not her fault you were out too early. did you not look up your towns trick or treat times? Here it was 5:30 to 7. and if a kid came to my door before that, I would tell him to come back at the proper time. you can't just go trick or treating whenever the hell you feel like it.
not just this town, but as far as i know, it's the whole state.
in my town they had trick or treating between the hours of 6-8pm, the fire hall would play their siren at the beginning and end
It doesn't matter if someone is early, you politely inform them if you have no candy and tell them the times in case they didn't know them.
I can understand showing up after trick-or-treating is one thing, but when they show up early, just say that is a Awesome costume, have some candy.
Exactly. I would have found something to give the kid, even if it was a can of soda.
As a general rule, at least where I'm from, people don't start trick-or-treating until it's dark outside. Just how early did you leave, OP? Having said that, the woman was extremely rude for slamming the door in your face. She could have just not answered if she was going to act that way. Your two year-old is probably more mature than she is.
That's very rude and wrong at so many levels to make a kids first experience to be such awful. I wish she learns some sense
I would have knocked again and given her a little trick....and given myself an assault charge
Make lemonade. A crying 2.5 year old is worth his weight in pity bonus candy if you let him tell everybody how the angry lady at no. 17 slammed the door on him.
