Today, I took my wife and newborn baby girl home from the hospital. While waiting for the elevator, an elderly couple leaned over, saw our baby, and said, "Look, it's the fat kid that was in the nursery." My baby is six and a half pounds, and my wife hasn't stopped crying. FML

How is this an FML? The chubby babies are usually the cutest and the healthiest. Fat babies are the best.

I think they were complimenting you. It is good when a newborn baby is chubby because it means they are healthy and have been properly nourished in the womb. And they were an elderly couple, so I don't think they were aware that it may be offensive. They come from a different time. People are too concious about weight these days. And come on! Worrying about your new-born baby being too fat?? That's ridiculous.

I was 6lb and 3 oz and my sister was 8 lb and 4 oz. We were still small babies. I really don't get this FML

Good God, if you're wife is that upset over your baby being called fat when its a newborn, what is she going to do if the kid grows up to be chubby? There are worse things in life. How about instead of crying that your baby is cute and chubby, you be happy that it's not deformed or born with some defect? Jesus, get over your shallowness

you people just don't get it, do you? I think the point was the baby is NOT fat @ 6 1/2 lbs--hence the crying wife! that sucks dude! try to find some creative ways to make her feel better. a good **** always cheers my wife up, even if I have to work to "convince" her.
