Today, I tried opening a can for the first time using a manual can opener. I tried for a half hour to open a can of ravioli, mutilating the can in the process. Only after watching five Youtube videos on how to use a manual can opener did I notice the pull-tab on the top of the ravioli can. FML

I know I'm way late to this, but anyway... I would normally be inclined to agree with you, but just last night, my husband walked up to me with a can and our (pretty decent) manual can opener asking for help. He was definitely NOT spoiled as a child, in fact, his parents are some of the most practical/frugal people I know. But, they did have an automatic can opener, and I guess all of the canned food he ever used in college was either opened/cooked by me, or had one of those pull tabs. He's also well-educated and quite intelligent. My point is, if you've never used something before, it might not be that obvious, and it probably has nothing to do with being spoiled-automatic can openers aren't that expensive. But after watching half an hour of youtube videos? And not noticing that the can had a pull tab? Okay, OP was struggling a bit. YDI

Hahaha this has given me a great youtube idea... Im goin to teach ppl how to open a can of noodles that has a pull tab top... This is goin to be great
