Today, I volunteered to tutor a 17-year-old girl in science. I had to explain in detail of what the real Big Bang theory was, as she only knew about the show. Later, I heard I was reported by her because apparently, "I was trying to convert her to Scientology." I now know why she needed a tutor. FML

Hey, OP here, anyways I did meet with her today again and of course I had to explain some stuff about the confusion yesterday. I told her the true definition of Scientology which cleared some confusion up. Then I told her that she didn't have to believe in the Big Bang theory but she should at least know it and have a decent grasp on it. She basically shot back "I don't really need to know about it, it's ONLY a theory..." which forced me to explain the actual definition of a scientific theory to her , and I came up with examples such as Cell theory, how parts of gravity are considered theories, Molecular theory, several theories in mathematics, and a bunch of other scientific theories. I knew this would slightly upset her but I didn't expect her to shoot back "You're going to hell if you keep preaching Satan's word. You need Jesus, I don't know what you learned but the Bible has the truth that you need to know." Now that I think about it, I'd rather tutor teenagers who come from higher academic backgrounds ...

I feel sorry for that girl, she's indoctrinated to the extreme... I'm surprised her parents even allowed you to be her tutor since you're explaining so many dangerous ideas to her!

Wow, that girl is not going to go far in life.

She sounds like an idiot. Hopefully she won't reproduce any time soon.

Maybe it's just time to give up on her. She sounds like a lost cause.

You should have informed that since she seems so into saying she's a Christian maybe she shouldn't be watching the big bang theory.

All I can say is my god. People like her are the reason we cannot compete in the world's education comparisons.

Chances are she's never read the Bible. Even though I'm a Catholic I can't deny that the Bible does have some pretty horrible things in it.

God used His excellent grasp of science to create the world in which we know now starting with the Big Bang working through the evolutionary process to bring us here today.

Oh gods, one of those. Yeah, even Bill Nye can't get through to them. Too bad science knowledge can't be obtained through osmosis, because I'm sure I for one would enjoy beating her upside the head with a textbook.

That's just painful....poor brainwashed girl and poor you for having to deal with such nonsense.

Wow. Stupidity and indoctrination is far too common.

Please... OH PLEASE, tell me you've looked her in the eyes and told her: "Never, under any circumstances, should she EVER populate this world with her gene pool." Because that's not religion talking, I hope, but rather stupidity at its finest.

I think what she needs to know more than science, is the nearest strip club that is hiring.

Unfortunately this is all too common nowadays

Willful ignorance is one of the greatest sins of all...

As an atheist, I have to battle these forces of stupidity everyday, I feel your pain.

the teenagers with higher academic backgrounds don't need tutors...

114, I don't think there's a religion that doesn't believe working or going to a strip club isn't a sin. plus, unless she's turning 18 in a week she isn't hirable yet

118, that's not religion talking, that's false indoctrination, with or without religion people would find some device to brainwash and control people. The tragedy here lies in both the fact that there are those in the world willing to use a perverted (in the old sense of the word) teaching of God to control people and that people are stupid and/or contented enough to allow themselves to fall under the spell of those false prophets of whatever religion they claim to follow.

That's the south for you. Soon all the elderly people who preach the hate of science will die off and the Christians who can cope with the fact that they Earth is older than 6,000 years old will be left. They are much more reasonable people.

for the record, you can be religious and have a higher educational background. On the other hand, one who is religious doesn't emphasize education, but rather a closer connection to god, or whatever higher power you believe in. What you experienced was an inappropriate way for someone to express their beliefs

LostInLife94 29

That's how I see it. I put the pieces together and this is how everything works together. Science and God work together to help us live on Earth

Me personally, I would've just give up on this girl and tell her good luck.

OP was just teaching her science. Did you bother to read the follow-up?

People like you are the leading cause of ignorance in this country. 1. Scientology is a religion, and has nothing to do with actual science 2. OP was her tutor, meaning it was his job to teach her about things like the big bang theory so she wouldn't fail her class At no point does it sound like he was trying to force belief onto her, but rather that he was teaching, and SHE was forcing hers onto him

Dude, he explained about scientific theories. Not "I believe the earth is round! I believe gravity can be defined by this!" He was trying to teach her about Science, which I'm no genius, but clearly know more about than you do. WHY IS IT SO HARD TO READ?! I literally look for explanations for this purpose. To see if they comment before I comment. Bah! So what is your take on evolution then? I'm thinking its time to bring Darwinism back.

And btw, it's *you're and she *is uneducated.

Do you really not know the difference between science and Scientology?

oh goodness OP! I know that feeling too well. That's why Im homeschooled. :,)

And this is coming from the guy who takes shirtless selfies and posts them on FML to get attention from girls
