Today, I walked in on my 14-year-old daughter holding a lit lighter to the underside of a spoon, which was full of baking powder. She was trying to breathe in the fumes to get high, and later confessed that she thought it's how heroin is made and used. FML

Today, my girlfriend and I went out to neighbour's just down the street and left my 12 and 14 year-old daughters at home. The 12 year-old found the fire extinguisher and thought it was whipped cream, put it in her mouth, and tried to eat it. The 14 year-old didn't even bother to call us. Luckily, the 12 year-old is fine, the stuff was safe. FML

Go lighter on the kid, will you? She's the heroine of an FML! ...Sorry, too spoon?

What's worse? That she wanted to do drugs? Or that she sucked at doing drugs?

Most of the time the parents arent to blame. Their children grow and make their own decisions no matter how they were raised.

kids will do anything to get high nowadays. our society has great morals

As stupid as this is, it's still smarter than actually doing heroin.

It's a good thing she's too naive to know any better but OP needs to monitor her a bit more closely. Curiosity about any mind-altering substances is a bad thing (trust me, I'm a recovering addict and I started off "curious"). I hate advocating sheltering children too much, but in a case like this, OP's daughter needs it. She simply isn't ready to make sound decisions

Kids will turn to this because they don't feel loved and accepted from there parents... YDI

That's complete bullshit.Kids do not always do the things they do because of their parents. Kids often do stupid things just because they want to be part of the in crowd or impress their friends.

Quote from Ronie Radke (from The Westerner) "I spent most of my teenage years searching for her (his mom's) love. I could not find it anywhere, so I turned to drugs." So yes it does happen

I know you don't need advice to raise your kid but I'd watch out for her trying to huff stuff next. All aresol cans should be accounted for
