Today, I walked into a gas station and saw some $.25 gum. It looked good and I thought I had a quarter in my pocket. I found no change in my pocket once I got to the register, so I pulled out my credit card. The cashier laughed a few seconds later when my card was declined for a piece of gum. FML

Most places won't even let you use your card for something that cheap, they have to pay a fee every time someone charges. They'd lose money.

Sorry, but if you run your card up to where you can't afford a .25 pack of chewing gum, you do deserve it. But still, how embarassing. :(

dude don't know know your credit card balance and how much you have to spend? if not cut up the credit card and rely on a debit mastercard/visa until you learn to manage your money.

YDI. People who use their credit cards for purhcases that are under $2 piss me off. Pay with cash, shit. I'm never ever getting a credit card, I'm not going to wind up in debt. I'll stick with cash thank you very much. I'm sure I'll get a debit card, but at least it's my money, not some company charging me interest.

Some things are declined even if they have money on them. I've had a check card with about $800 on it at the time get declined, and a credit card with a similar amount get declined. Never had a problem with either before or after those incidents, but for whatever reason they wouldn't go through at the time. I do keep small change on me for things like gum though, cause a lot of gas stations and smaller stores make you spend a certain amount before you can charge things.

You're joking ?????? you were going to put 25cents on your credit card ???? No wonder the states are in a recession with people putting stupid and small priced things on credit cards !! and all the interest you will have to pay on one single piece of gum, I'm thankful I don't live in the USA.
