Today, I summoned the courage to go into my boss’s office and ask for a raise. He yelled at me, called me “ungrateful”, asked how dare I ask him such a question, and that I’m lucky to even have a job in the first place. I ended up reduced to tears. FML

Today, I met with my boss hoping to hear about a possible raise that had been promised many months ago. He then told me that the only way I would get a raise was if I found a better paying job and took it, and that the company was in no position to offer anyone a raise. FML

Today, I was in a bad mood after being stuck in traffic for 2 hours and late for work. I was walking to my building when I saw a 100 dollar note flying my way. A man called after me for it, but being selfish I took the note in my pocket as a little reward. That man was my boss. Yes, I'm fired. FML

Different countries have different ways. I'm in Australia and I've never heard of anyone asking for a raise. We go by how long you've worked there and what level your at. You don't get to choose your wage or ask for a raise etc. weird seeing the differences between countries.

seeing as others in the past demanded a raise got canned. wonder if there is more to the story than meets the eye. I doubt the employer fired him for the sole reason of asking for a raise.
