Today, I summoned the courage to go into my boss’s office and ask for a raise. He yelled at me, called me “ungrateful”, asked how dare I ask him such a question, and that I’m lucky to even have a job in the first place. I ended up reduced to tears. FML

Today, I met with my boss hoping to hear about a possible raise that had been promised many months ago. He then told me that the only way I would get a raise was if I found a better paying job and took it, and that the company was in no position to offer anyone a raise. FML

Today, I asked my boss for a raise, explaining that another shop offered me a job at a higher rate, but I would stay if he would offer me the same. Instead, he fired me then called the other shop and said I was fired for failing a drug test. FML

Today, I was in a bad mood after being stuck in traffic for 2 hours and late for work. I was walking to my building when I saw a 100 dollar note flying my way. A man called after me for it, but being selfish I took the note in my pocket as a little reward. That man was my boss. Yes, I'm fired. FML

or hear me out... they felt they do enough for the company to deserve and extra 50c and the boss figured a couple part timers with no benefits and half the wage would be better for his own bonus... you boss is not your friend, he cares about making his paycheck bigger. OP cares about making their own bigger. the reason is irrelevant, but yes you seem to understand how badly people tend to do their job, personal experience? the better a company treats it employees the harder the employees will tend to work. not all but most.
