Today, I was accused of stealing when I dropped a $20 bill in front of my boss. His logic: I'm too poor to have a $20 bill and there's no way it was a tip, since our customers are "so stingy". It was a tip and it was going to get me through the rest of the month. He won't give it back. FML

That's illegal for him to take your tips away. Report him

Too poor to have a $20 bill? What year does your boss think it is 1887?

If you must comment, at least spell correctly #45.

If you had had money on you where I worked it would have been a sackable expense. All tips had to be declared immediately by anyone with access to a till. All depends on the company rules.

OP could have been on their way to do so when they ran into their boss.

#24vIf he is the boss he should be making more than OP hence why boss wouldn't need it, unless said boss is Toronto Mayor, Rob Ford and needs it for crack

**** your boss. Take money out of the register and tell him it was only fair.

I'm not saying that you SHOULD sue him for $20, but you totally could.

That blows. A similar thing happened to my friend. Some people are just thick headed ******

File a complaint. According to your reaction, your company does allow you to keep your tips and therefor you should be able to get it back.

You have been stolen from. Demand your $20 back or tell him you're reporting him to his boss. If he runs the place, tell him you're reporting him to whoever oversees workplace conditions in your city.

The boss may be making more, doesn't mean he isn't living beyond his means. He is still an asshole though.
