*wonders if mlleangelique is someone I know...* #26 "Being intolerant of other people's mistakes is just as closed-minded, you know." Word!
It's kinda like going up to a lady and asking her when she's due only to find out she's not pregnant. It's not so much what you asked that was offensive, but the fact that you made an (incorrect) assumption and also how you worded your question. First you assumed she was trans. Ok - it was a gay bar, so that happens. but you could have politely brought the issue up with a question like "So how long have you been doing drag?" or something. If she's open about it and tells you she's trans, then it's OK to ask her about the daily routine. If she's not opening up about the gender issue, then it would be better to just be polite and stop prying. To just ask someone - anyone - that you don't really know very well a question that involves what's between their legs the way you did is just rude. If you walked up to a girl in a straight bar and asked, "so when was your last period" you would prolly be lucky to walk out alive. Just because someone is trans doesn't mean you automatically have permission to ask about their privates. So yes - YDI.
#34 I'm sorry, I just have to ask. How would "So how long have you been doing drag?" have offended this woman less?! :P
Not your fault... if you're in a gay bar, it's natural to assume she's a queen. Plus, they're usually REALLY convincing and REALLY pretty, so she should feel complimented!
#22, if the one finger (ring/index) is noticeably longer than the other finger, the person has more testosterone in his or her body. If they are relatively the same length, there is less testosterone. But this does not necessarily determine if the person is male or female. And what's wrong with women going to gay bars?
The word is transwoman, not drag queen. Drag queens dress up as women for fun/show but identify as men, whereas transwomen actually identify as women everyday.

Aren't those extremely personal questions to be asking? Could we get a transgender/transvestite to weigh in on this discussion?
I clicked YDI, then FML. It's a bit of both, I'vegottaa say, some of them can be pretty damn convincing!
