Today, I was at the gas station pumping gas when the lady in front of me had a little boy who asked if he could pump the gas. She said yes and then quickly answered her phone, as it was ringing. She wasn't watching him and he pulled out the pump to early, spraying gas all over me, including my face. FML

This FML is a load of shit. Unless the kid was pumping diesel, then it wouldn't have sprayed at all because the pumps here in the States have a mechanism that only allows the pump to work when the handle is held back. Also, that stuff doesn't travel very far out of the pump, so unless you were standing right next to the kid, it wouldn't touch you. Now it is possible to douse yourself in gasoline with those pumps, since you could hold back the handle and put the nozzle over your head. But that's also unlikely. And depending on where you live, you could file a lawsuit. Here in Ohio, you need a valid license to pump, even though it isn't always enforced.

Oh please. I used to live in North Carolina and I actually witnessed a woman who pulled out the nozzle too soon and sprayed gasoline all over herself. It happens.

I sit here amazed (not really) and a little offended (really) at the number of folks who "live in the states" who don't realize that, shockingly, each state has its own statutes ... - In some states, you have to be a certain age to pump gas. Ages vary. - In some states, you have to have a driver's license. - In at least one state, you cannot pump your own gas ... all gas is "full service", by law. The amount of flow/pressure at the nozzle also varies. Ever notice that on some pumps, the 1/10 gallon digits go by so fast you can barely read them, but on others, they crawl along ... No, not "all" gas nozzles have the safety feature ... I can tell you for certain that the one just down the road from my house doesn't, because I used it to fill a bunch of jerry cans the other day. And yes, the other day, filling those cans ... I wasn't paying close enough attention, the nozzle came out of the can, and I totally doused myself, from my chest to my toes (thankfully not in my eyes or mouth), and the pump, the side of my car, and a generous portion of parking lot with gas spray. Had you been in the station next to me, you'd have been doused, too. So this one is entirely plausible.

Idk about where you live, but here the gas will auto-stop filling if you take it out? (Idk what it's called, but it wouldn't let me pump gas into my gas container if the edges weren't matched up.) Besides, where the hell were you? Right next to the boy? I mean.. really? If the boy was in front of you, you'd be about a car length away from him. (The gap between the other car's gas tank and your car's gas tank..) Personally, I'd be more upset at the kid spilling gas all over my car and/or my clothes than having gas on my face..? But hey, whatever sinks your sub.

oooh I just remembered "pulled the pump out too early" *giggle*

WTF, I would have punched that kid in the mouth and kicked his mom in the clam! ppl need to supervise their kids!

if u got the license plate number you can report her because it is ileagle for kids to be out of the car while the guardian is pumping gas let alone the KID PUMPING GAS and the parent not watching. she can sentenced up to 5yrs in jail

haha did anyone else think of Zoolander when they read this?

I had that happen to me. I can hardly see out of my left eye

YDI! First of all, why would you even THINK of letting a little kid pump gas in your car? xD Some people are just RETARDED. -__-

Ahh.. Kids... You just have to love them..
