Today, I was at work when my mother called. She gave me great news that she had finally cleaned out my room and all those "old and useless" books that I had in there. Those "useless" books that she had just trashed were all antiques and worth about $500 each. There were 27 books in there. FML

Why did you never tell her that you had such expensive books? Especially if she's the kind of mom that randomly throws things out?

YDI for not cleaning your room yourself you lazy piece of dipshit. Learn to be responsible.

THAT NOT EVEN CLEANING stupid. throwing out books is cleaning? no wonder your so unintelligent.

It never said that OP asked for their mom to clean their room. She probably did it on her own. Clearly, you're the dipshit who needs to clean their eyes because you keep assuming shit. Shut the **** up, because nobody cares what you have to say at this point. If you had a brain you would get it wasn't his fault.

Why weren't these valuable books kept somewhere SAFE? If they really meant all that much to you, they would have been in a protective case. Even someone clueless to the value of the books would be able to tell they were special if they were stored safely. Not to mention, it sounds like you moved out & your mom cleaned out your old room...why leave the books behind if they were worth so much? Just saying.

My dad used to keep all his old comic books in a footlocker. Safe, cool, and dry... but not mom-proof.

Oh my gosh, i would flip shit if my mom threw away my books. I have a few that are worth a bit, and i would die if my mom threw those ones away. Throwing books away is like sacrilegious, no one should ever do that. Go through the garbage? And i think that the OP's mom was visiting or something.

Wow yeah, a ShakespearE "original manuscript" doesn't and never has existed, dumbass! Copyright didn't exist in Elizabethan England, so sides were written out individually.

wow, i'm really sorry. in the time that you were living with your parents, didn't you ever explain to them that those books were worth a lot of money?

you kinda deserve it for not taking better care of something that means that much to you and is worth that much. sorry to hear it and all, but it's your own fault, not your mother's.

I'm with you there too, unless the mom knew and was just a crazy bitch.

Sounds like something my mother would do. I'm sorry for you and you should make her pay you back.
