Today, I was at work when my mother called. She gave me great news that she had finally cleaned out my room and all those "old and useless" books that I had in there. Those "useless" books that she had just trashed were all antiques and worth about $500 each. There were 27 books in there. FML

While I feel bad for you, why didn't you have $13,500 worth of books insured? Your mom is an idiot for bot knowing why antique books look like, especially ones in her own house.

What kind of person who still lives with their mother has over $13,000 worth of antique books? I think you should write an FML about that instead...

You should probably think about moving out.

FYL OP. My mother tried to do the same thing to me. I'm away at college and my mother tried to have a yard sale. Fortunately for my books, it was a crappy weekend and no one showed up. I completely sympathize with you, though my books weren't worth as much as yours.

Oh my god, I know how you feel. When I left for my first year of college, I took pretty much everything that I could with me because my family was moving out of town the next day. When I came home, the stuff I left, including a big box of mementos from all 4 years of high school, my scrapbooking stuff, and a lot of other things that were important to me, was all gone. She threw it all out when they moved. It sucks. Sorry, pal.

I have been cleaning my own room since I was 7, for the fact my mum understands it's my room my things my responsiblity. Shows that your family as little to no communication as why wouldn't you have told her about them? People really need to know how to talk to family members.

THIS IS WHY MOTHERS SHOULDN'T CLEAN THEIR CHILDREN'S ROOMS

Where the hell do parents - namely mothers - get this notion that's what yours is theirs to dispose of willy-nilly? Find the deeds and sell her house while she's away for the weekend.
