Today, I was called an 'unhelpful little bitch' by a customer, after I informed her that we couldn't order a pair of shoes she wanted from the company in her size because it's a discontinued model. This little tirade continued for another few minutes, with her insulting me and my intelligence. FML

Egocentric customers and their self entitlement to think they're special never seems to amaze me anymore. This is exactly why I quit retail forever. There should be an eject button when you the employee are harassed by an ass hole customer. It throws them out of your store!

When they start doing that cut them off in a deadpan matter. Tell them sir/madam I'm sorry I cannot help you but I don't get paid enough to listen to you insult so you need to leave me alone or be prepared to receive the same attitude you're giving me. Or option B just get the manager. They get paid more ergo let them deal with it. Life's too short to listen to that BS.

Odds are the customer isn't really mad at you, they are mad about something else entirely and you just happen to be standing there to be abused.

Educationnn Connectionn (song commercial) in my head

You should've smiled politely to her and asked if that was all, and that you would love to get back to work now.

I feel your pain, OP. I work as a line cook, and we get all kinds of assholes who come in on a mission to make our lives miserable. If by some twist of fate, I ever got elected P.O.T.U.S., I would do my best to get a law passed that would allow retail, food-service, or any service oriented business one day to treat customers like shit, at no consequence or penalty to the business or its employees. The kicker? Each business could pick a different day, and change that day each year, so the customers have no idea if they're going to be treated like gold or shit. Maybe then customers would finally understand that they shouldn't **** with the people who are providing them a service.

I know your pain, I had the same reaction from a customer when we ran out of red socks..

That's retail for you, people are under the impression that they can come into a store and say anything to the people working there because they have to be courteous in return, if they want to keep their jobs. Well guess what all of you people who abuse retail workers, I'm gonna key your cars, ahahhaha!

You could have gotten the manager, I personally would have told her to get bent
