Today, I was cashiering, and a customer's change came to $5.51. She looked pretty stinking rich, so I just gave her $5.50. She demanded the extra penny, and I asked if she really needed it. She said, "No, but they do, asshole," and dropped her $5.51 in the charity donation box. FML

Why in the world would you not give someone correct change because they look rich?

I work as a cashier and you sound ridiculous. Why on earth would you not give her HER OWN MONEY because she looked rich?! Even though it IS only a penny, that is technically stealing, you ****.

Its not an "extra" penny there sport. Her change was 5.51 not 5.50.

You stupid fucktard your the reason I lost faith in humanity

You have no right to judge if someone deserves their money. I hope you lose your job for attempted theft.

Just because someone looks rich, doesn't mean they are.

Whether or not she looked rich, it's her money!

You are a self-righteous asshole. You simply /assume/ they are rich and decide to not give her the actual change, which is just a penny? lol you are so f'king stupid. It doesn't matter if they are rich or not, do your freaking job, dumbass! Also, even if they are rich, you decide to pre-judge them as not deserving correct change they are properly due? Simply because they /seem/ to fit some negative stereotyped idea you have of them? You are obviously a dumb and scornful person, and the cashier job however does seems appropriate for you despite the fact you can't even be a cashier right. ;)

I was going to thumb you up at first, but then I was going to thumb you down for implying being a cashier is a lowly job... so I guess they just cancel each other.

Meh. whatever, I'm sorry to say, but a cashier is a rather lowly job. :/ I'm not bashing people in general who are cashiers, it's an honest way to work and earn money, but it is what it is. I don't think less of people that are. I was just alluding to the fact that OP is a loser, so they don't deserve a good job; i.e. one better than a cashier.

If you're saying it's a lowly job, then yes, you are thinking lower of cashiers. Just saying. In this economy, a job is a job. To many people, there's no such thing as a job that is beneath them. There's no need to judge.

There isn't a necessary causality where your job equals your social status or value, just saying. Lowly job =/= lowly person. Lowly job meaning as in= not prestigious, not well-paying, not necessarily skillful etc. Did you not even read what I said, 257? You said what I had, except came to think I was associating ones' job with their worth-- where I clearly said that not to be the case, except potentially with OP-- just to make an attempted humorous jab. I guess I need another example--- I think everyone could agree being a garbageman isn't great, does that mean they aren't good people or do an honest job other people don't have to do? No. :/ I need to write every single thing out.... i'm sorry but i can't help but facepalm....x_x ...hmm & i wonder why I rarely comment on FML lol

I read what you wrote, but it seemed a bit contradictory to your original comment. You implied that only dumb/scornful people should work as cashiers, then turned around and took it back when someone called you on it. That's all I'm saying.

You never have the right to determine if someone needs the money. If they're paying they better get their exact change, other wise it's just stealing

It seems this is something you either have been getting away with, or felt you would be able to get away with, so YDI for being a thief. There's no other appropriate word for it. It doesn't matter if it's one cent or ten dollars, theft is theft.

Wow you should give people their change even if they 'look rich'. How dies a person even look rich besides if they're wearing like real fur. None the less, YDI
